Pavestone & Segmental Block Retaining Walls

Segmental retaining wall block — Pavestone and similar manufactured units — gives a clean, uniform, modern look and interlocks into a strong engineered wall, a popular alternative to natural stone across DFW.

What segmental block offers

Manufactured block is precisely sized, so courses stack uniformly for a contemporary, architectural line. The units interlock and can be pinned or geo-grid reinforced, which lets a block wall go taller and carry more load than a dry-stacked stone wall while keeping a consistent appearance.

Engineered for clay

JCL sets block walls on a compacted base, batters the face into the slope, and reinforces with geo-grid where height requires it — all over the gravel backfill and drainage that keep North Texas clay from bowing the wall. Taller walls are engineered and permitted.

Block vs. natural stone

Choose block for a clean modern look, tall reinforced walls, and predictable cost; choose Milsap or chopped stone for a natural, organic face. We’ll show you both at your estimate and recommend the right system. Explore our retaining wall installation and replacement.

Frequently asked questions

Is block stronger than natural stone?

Reinforced segmental block can go taller and carry more load than a dry-stacked stone wall, thanks to geo-grid reinforcement — while keeping a clean, uniform, modern look.

Does block work on DFW clay?

Yes, when engineered correctly — compacted base, batter, geo-grid where needed, and drainage behind the wall to relieve the pressure clay creates.
