Retaining Walls with Fencing

Many DFW yards need both a retaining wall and a fence in the same run — the wall holds the grade and the fence adds privacy or a boundary on top. Building them together is far better than adding one to the other later.

Why build them together

When a fence sits on or just behind a retaining wall, the wall has to account for the fence’s load and post footings, and the drainage has to work around both. JCL engineers the two as one system so posts are set properly and the wall isn’t compromised — a common detail on our replacement projects with a cedar or iron fence on top.

Cedar, iron, and cap details

We build stone or block walls topped with cedar board, board-on-board, or ornamental iron, and finish with a decorative cap. The combination gives you a clean grade change plus privacy in one continuous line that matches the house.
